Thursday Jan 19, 2017 - Birdsboro Watershed

Les will lead a close to 6 mile shuttle hike in the Birdsboro Watershed. We will access the watershed via the Horseshoe Trail, then use some of the more remote trails to proceed to the main reservoir. Expect a number of hills to climb to keep you warm. If trails are snowy or icy, the shuttle hike will be canceled and an alternate hike on the Schuylkill River Trail will be substituted.

MEET: 9:30 A.M. @ the Schuylkill River trail head in Monocacy. On Route 724, just east of Center Rd, take the first left turn, at approximately 1273 East Main St (at the former Tim's Ugly Mug, now the Fork & Ale). We will shuttle from here to the starting point.

Thursday Jan 12, 2017 - Nolde

HERB will lead a local winter hike in nearby Nolde Forest. We will hike 5.5-6 miles (guaranteed) on woodland trails and try to visit some parts of the forest we have not seen lately. Perhaps we will see Nolde in the snow! We can stop in the mansion to get warmed up and if the snow is deep, borrow some snowshoes! Lunch afterwards is an option.

MEET: 10:00 A.M. @ Nolde Mansion parking lot off of Route 625.

Thursday Dec 29, 2016 - Neversink

LES will lead an approximate 6 mile hike on NEVERSINK. This is an exploratory hike. He has been told that South 9th St. used to go to and cross the Schuylkill River. So, let's see what remains of this road. We will take the trail above the Schuylkill to South 9th St., then turn and follow the old road as far as we can. After returning to Neversink, we will decide which trails to use to complete the hike. Neversink's bad hills should be avoided on this hike.

MEET: 10:00 A.M. @ the pond at Forest Hills Memorial Park.

TELEPHONE: Leader Les 610-323-1703 with questions.

Thursday Dec 22, 2016 - Womelsdorf

We will be learning history of the town's buildings and the leader will have pictures of people in the past and events that occurred. We will continue walking thru Conrad Weiser Park. This will be a leisurely paced walk. We can opt for lunch afterwards.
