Thursday December 20, 2012 - Honey Brook

HERB will lead a Christmas hike in the Honey Brook area. This will be an Amish Country road walk. Perhaps we can hitch a ride on a horse drawn wagon or a sleigh if it snows! We will briefly visit an Amish/Mennonite cheese farm and shop. Then we will pass some neat farms and walk by the “claimed” site of an old Indian village. A light snow would make it even neater!

MEET AND DEPART: 10:00 A.M. @ the parking lot across from the Windmill Restaurant. An optional lunch will follow for those interested.

TELEPHONE: Herb 610-286-6886 with questions.

Thursday December 6, 2012 - Blue Marsh

KATHY & KAY will lead the last of the series of Blue Marsh hikes. This trek will begin near mile marker 24 and continue to mile marker 30 on the main hiking trail. The quest will begin at Mt. Pleasant Rd. and continue to the Stilling Basin for a total of 6.5 miles. The terrain is mostly through fields and wooded areas with a few hills and some places may be muddy along creek banks. Wear good hiking boots and orange blaze, carry water and call if weather is questionable. Lunch later is an option.

MEET: 9:30 A.M. @ the Stilling Basin parking lot of Blue Marsh off Palisades Drive. We will carpool for an easy shuttle to our starting point in Mt. Pleasant.

November 29, 2012 - Thun Trail

EDNA will lead a 5.5 mile loop hike on part of the Thun Trail and part of the Neversink Trail. By combining the two sections we will visit River Place and Heritage Park in Reading. We will also see the Fisherman’s Wharf with neat views of the Schuylkill River and Reading skyline. This is an easy hike on mostly gravel trails. Dress for the weather, but heavy rain or snow would cancel this event. Lunch is optional afterwards.

MEET: 10:00 A.M. @ Brentwood Trailhead parking lot off Rte. 10 in Reading.

TELEPHONE: Edna 610-373-8625 if questions arise.
