Thursday Oct 27, 2016 - Rausch Gap/Gold Mine Road

Due to rain, local hike to Gring's Mill substituted.

GROVER will lead a shuttle hike of 7 to 8 miles encompassing a section of the Appalachian Trail in the Rausch Gap and a Rail-to-Trail section leading to Gold Mine Road. The first three miles will be a strenuous uphill climb and then moderate after that. Carry a lunch or snack and water to enjoy while resting at Rausch Creek. We can opt for early supper afterwards.

Thursday Oct 20, 2016 - French Creek/Six Penny

HERB has planned a 5-6 mile circular walk in the French Creek Six Penny area. We will access the park from a little used parking lot, make several easy small stream crossings and explore this once thriving, but now abandoned site. Some may have good memories of picnicking and swimming here years ago! Optional lunch later.

Thursday Oct 13, 2016 - District Township

LES will lead a 6+ mile road hike in District Township. In July we began at the District Township park and looped to Hill Church and back. This time we begin at the same location but go in the opposite direction looping to Landis Store before returning. We will have more open roads on this hike and more views of rural countryside. There will be hills. It could be quite picturesque at this time of year.

1st MEET: 9:30 A.M. @ Weis Markets, Route 73 and Friedensberg Rd in Oley. There will be about a 10 mile drive to the starting point
2nd MEET: 10:00 A.M. @ District Township Park at Landis Store and Weil Roads (184 Weil Rd, Boyertown).

Thursday Oct 6, 2016 - Phoebe Wernersville

ANNELIES & RUDY will lead a 4 mile hike and more at Phoebe. It is a real nice trail, hills, woods ,along a creek on our way to visit the Jesuit center. They have a lovely piece of land there, visit the chapel etc., then we'll take another return hike back to Phoebe.

MEET: 10:00 A.M. @ the main entrance at Phoebe , about 2 miles from Sinking Spring on 422W on the right side of the road. Big sign for Phoebe, go in straight under bridge, parking all around for visitors. PEACE !
