HERB has mapped a 4-5 mile moderate circle hike in the Six Penny Creek area of French Creek State Park We will walk through the abandoned picnic and swimming area. Remnants of the old shelters, bathrooms, bathhouse and the dam breast are still visible. Some “old timers” can remember when the area was filled with hundreds of visitors. It should be a cool walk for a hot July day! Lunch afterwards is an option.

Thursday Jul 11, 2019 - Covered Bridge Park
KAY & KATHY have rescheduled the COVERED BRIDGE PARK, ALLENTOWN, Enjoy a 4.5 mile hike from one covered bridge to another alongside beautiful Jordan Creek. It will be a 38 mile drive to entrance of park. There are both shady and widely open spaces, so plan appropriately for weather. Hiking will be fairly level walking on park trails and roads.
FIRST MEET: 9:00 AM behind McDonald’s 5th St Highway (across from Wal-Mart).
DIRECTIONS AND SECOND MEET: CLOSEST GPS: 2465 Wehr Mill Road, Allentown, PA. We will park in main parking lot. Take 222 north and get on route 22 east. Next take route 309 north about 2.5 miles. Right turn exit at Lime Kiln Road (there is a traffic light). Drive .6 mile and turn right onto Wehr Mill Road. Cross the covered bridge and turn left into the parking lot. Please call and let one of the leaders know if planning to meet at the second meeting place.

MARILYN & DONNA would like you to start your 4th of July celebration with a 5-6 mile moderate/strenuous hike at French Creek State Park. Join Marilyn and Donna on the Boone, Horseshoe and Lenape trails. The hike begins with a rocky uphill climb of about 1 mile, then it levels out, but all sections of this hike are rocky.

ELLEN and HERB are organizing a “Trail-Magic” event on the AT north of Reading. This will be a picnic for all hikers on the trail that day including the Wanderers. Les will be leading a 4-5 mile in and out hike on the AT for all interested hikers. This event will be held rain or shine.
