CLYDE will lead the Wanderers event at French Creek State Park on a 5 mile, or slightly longer, hike that will take us to the William’s Hill Fire Tower via the Horse Shoe Trail and the Ridge Trail. There is an option for a short rest at the pavilion which is located there, if the group agrees. We could build a brief fire in the fireplace to warm ourselves before continuing the hike. The last part of this hike will take us downhill on the Blue Trail and several other trails winding back to our vehicles. There is a possibility of small detours that may be forced on the group by the leader! Dress appropriately with sturdy shoes and blaze orange, carry water and enjoy the day.

Thursday January 3, 2013 - Coventry Woods
LES will lead a 5 plus miles hike in COVENTRY WOODS. Have you hiked the eastern most part of Coventry Woods? Probably not, but this is your chance. This hike begins on the ridge and uses trails and some roads to arrive at a mile long section of the Coventry Trail that leads out of the park to the east. When exiting the park a small stream must be crossed. Conditions will determine whether we cross it and do a mile of road walking or retrace our steps. Either way we will return to our starting point, partly via another new section of trail in this end of the park. As always, in Coventry Woods there will be steep hills, but mostly towards the end of this hike. Dress for the weather, wear orange and good hiking boots and carry water. A place to lunch later will be determined and is an option.
