DAVE will lead a ~ 6 mile hike to JEFF’S SWAMP from the Western Schuylkill County village of Lincoln. This moderate hike will descend Broad Mountain on a dirt road to a break in Sharp Mountain. Passing through the break we will enter the swamp near this point. There is a Pine Plantation, Hemlock Bog, large Artesian spring, open swamp views and DeHaas Run. While descending the mountain we will visit a large river of rocks similar to Hawk Mountain. Then, return to our starting point and a short shuttle back to our cars. Wear waterproof boots.
1st MEET: 8:30 A.M. @ Blue Marsh Church Rd. parking lot off Rte. 183.
2nd MEET: 9:30 A.M. @ Parking area on left just after ramp for I-81 north.
DIRECTIONS: From Church Rd. parking lot travel north on Rte. 183 to Rte. 443 west at traffic signal. Travel to Pine Grove and turn right onto Rte. 125 at that traffic signal. At signs for I-81 turn left to large parking area on left just after ramp for I-81 north. Park in the lot to carpool ~ 3.5 miles to Lincoln.
