Thursday Sep 9, 2021 - Horseshoe Trail Cleanup

MARK will be taking us through a Horseshoe Trail Clean Up. This occurs on the section of the trail that our club periodically maintains. This section spans from Knauers to Adamstown; however, we may not cover all of it at this time. Bring loppers and trimming tools, also work gloves, water and plenty of good humor. Wear long pants and long sleeve shirt to avoid poison ivy. This is a good time to give back to the community with some trail maintenance. Lunch is an option afterwards.

Thursday Aug 19, 2021 - Scott's Run Lake

HERB has planned a 4-4.5 mile round trip walk around Scott's Run lake in French Creek State Park. We will walk on the Horse-Shoe Trail, other park trails and some park roads. We will be looking for signs of beaver activity, walk though several organized group camping areas, an old gravel pit and return to our cars. There is a rumor of a lemonade stand along the trail! There are some rocky areas and several short hills. Maybe it will be cooler by the lake. Lunch afterwards is an option.

MEET: 9:00 A.M. Scott's Run Lake second parking lot after the dam.

Thursday Aug 12, 2021 - Bryn Coed

LES will lead a 5 mile hike in Bryn Coed Preserve, a Natural Lands Park in northern Chester County. This hike utilizes new trails recently opened beginning from a township park at the western end of Bryn Coed. The township park has a 1.5 mile trail around its perimeter with a half mile connector trail to Bryn Coed. At the end of the connector trail, the hikers will have a choice of 2 possibilities. One is 3/4 mile to reach the area of Bryn Coed where prior hiking here has ended. The other is 1 mile through private land to a new entrance to Bryn Coed beyond its south western border. Either way, we return via the 1 mile or 3/4 mile trail, then take the half mile trail back to the township park.

MEET #1: 9:30 AM in the gravel parking lot in the rear of St Peters Village. There will be an approximate 10 mile shuttle to Bryn Coed.
