Thursday June 21, 2012 - Schuylkill Haven

GERRY & WILLIE will lead a moderate 5 to 6 mile hike in Schuylkill Haven, Pa. We will be on trails along the Schuylkill River and walkways through the Park and the school area. The terrains involve trails, sidewalks and some hills. Lunch is an option after the hike.

MEET: 9:30 A.M. @ Church Rd. parking lot of Blue Marsh off Rte. 183 N. to carpool to Schuylkill Haven with an arrival time of approximately 10:00 A.M.

Thursday June 14, 2012 - Welsh Mountain Preserve

CLYDE will lead a 2 ½ hour hike (~ 5-6 miles) in the Welsh Mountain Nature Preserve which is located near Money Rocks in Lancaster County. This hike is on mostly woodland trails and new to some of us. Hiking boots, water and insect repellant are appropriate for this event. A lunch stop after the hike is an option.

Thursday June 7, 2012 - Wyomissing Creek / Mohnton

KAY will lead a ~5 mile hike along the Wyomissing Creek. Traversing into Mohnton, this moderate, scenic hike uses trails, roads and parks of the area. In case of wet weather, dress appropriately and we will go the opposite way on higher, drier ground. Lunch stop after the hike is optional.

Thursday May 31, 2012 - Shartlesville

ANN will lead a 5 to 6 mile hike at the base of the Blue Mountain. Location is Upper Bern Twp./Shartlesville area. This is an easy loop walk through remote woodland roads and we will be hiking along the scenic Northkill Creek at times. An optional lunch stop at the Blue Mountain Family Restaurant is planned.

Thursday May 24, 2012 - Fort Zeller / Newmanstown

GERRY & WILLIE will lead the Fort Zeller’s – Newmanstown Hike of 6 miles around and through Newmanstown, Pa. The hike will be on macadam roads and alleys going past historical Fort Zeller’s and Memorial Park. Dress accordingly and wear orange for motorists to spot us readily. Carry water and snacks, but there is an optional lunch stop afterwards.

1st MEET: 9:30A.M. @ Parking lot of Shurfine Market off Rte. 422 West in Sinking Spring. We will carpool to Newmanstown to meet leaders.

2nd MEET: 10:00 A.M. @ Parking lot on Sheridan Road across from Elias U.C.C. church in Newmanstown.

Thursday May 17, 2012 - Marsh Creek

JODY will lead a 2 hour long hike in Marsh Creek State Park in Glenmoore, Pa. The hiking route will be determined the day of the hike depending on other activity in the park. Wear sunscreen and bug spray and bring a picnic lunch and we will eat in the park and relax at a picnic table overlooking the lake.

MEET: 9:30 A.M. @ Boat Launch parking lot off Marsh Creek Road in Lyndell.

DIRECTIONS: Take Rte. 82 south to Rte. 282 and turn left (southeast) drive along the creek into Lyndell. Then take a sharp left at post office just past Highspire Rd. (on the right) onto Lyndell Rd. Follow Lyndell Rd. onto Reids Rd. and then turn left onto Marsh Creek Rd. You will drive into the parking lot at the bottom of the hill by the boat ramp; you can also come in on Rte. 322.

Thursday May 10, 2012 - Muhlenberg Township

AL will lead a hike of 5 to7 miles in Muhlenberg Township. Starting at the Laurel Run Recreational Park, this hike involves various terrains, such as, woodland trail with some hills, grassy fields, macadam paths and some roads. Come prepared for the weather and insects.

MEET: 9:30 A.M. @ Laurel Run Recreational Park parking area across from the park lodge.

DIRECTIONS: Take Route 12 to exit at River Rd. and travel north on River Rd. for an approximate mile to the park entrance on the right side, just before the stop sign at Leiz’s Bridge Rd.
