Thursday May 9, 2019 - Neversink

LES will lead a 5.5 mile loop hike around the eastern end of Neversink Mountain. We begin with a steep climb, then descend into the glen before another climb to one of the mountain overlooks. Our return is via the north side of the mountain and McElvain's pavilion. Expect numerous hills.

GROVER (DICK) will lead a 5+ miles hike in French Creek State Park.......

Thursday Apr 25, 2019 - Bernville

GERRY will lead a 4.5 mile BERNVILLE TOWN & AREA HIKE. We will hike around the dam breast, thru the parks and along streets and sidewalks with a few small hills. If the group wants more, we could explore the cemetery or drive to the Rentschler Arboretum for some trail walking.

DIRECTIONS: Take 183 north thru Bernville to church on right, turn right and cross Main St. to other church (Frieden’s), park in the lot to far left (Washington St.).

Thursday Apr 18, 2019 - Memorial Lake (Indiantown Gap)

BEV will lead a 4 to 5 mile hike around Memorial Lake State Park. We will do most of the trails and a little used road to circle the lake. The trail may be muddy at spots.

MEET: 9:15 A.M. @ Old Church Rd. parking lot. We will depart from the Old Church Road Parking lot at Blue Marsh (off Rte.183) at 9:30 A.M SHARP, arriving at the Middle Road Parking lot at Memorial Lake approx.10:00 A.M.

DIRECTIONS TO PARK: Take I78 to South I81, exit 85, north on PA 934 to left on Asher Miner Road (at restaurant/gas station) first left on Boundary Road. There will be a sign for Middle Road on the left. Lunch at Esther's in Fredericksburg afterwards.

Thursday Apr 11, 2019 - Furnace Hills (Ephrata)

HERB has planned a 4-5 mile circle hike in the Furnace Hills Area., We will walk into the former BSA area and explore various woodland trails. We will visit the Eagle Rock overlook search for early spring wildflowers and enjoy the many small streams filled with spring rains. This area has just been opened to hikers by the Natural Lands Trust. Please wear some florescent orange. There are some rocks and hills. Lunch after is an option.

MEET: 9:30 A.M. @ the South end of the Walmart parking lot in Ephrata off of Rt. 322 or at the Furnace Hills Pumping Station Trailhead off of Rt. 322.

Thursday Apr 4, 2019 - Warwick to Ephrata Rail Trail

GLENN will lead the Warwick to Ephrata Rail Trail. Five easy miles out and back on an abandoned rail trail. Bonus for all who wish to visit Keller’s Mill Covered Bridge 1/2 mile from rail trail. Lunch stop afterwards is optional.

MEET: 10:00 A.M. @ Millway Road Parking Lot, off Rothsville Road.

DIRECTIONS: From Ollie’s (724 & 222) in Shillington take Route 222 South 18.4 miles to Route 772, then Route 772 west 2 miles to Rothville Road, turn right and travel one mile on Rothville Road to Millway Road ( Reiff’s Market), turn right on Millway for .25 mile to parking lot.

Thursday Mar 28, 2019 - Union Canal Towpath

ELAYNE due to rain, will re-lead the hike on the Union Canal Towpath Trail through Grings Mill to Reading. Approximately 4 to 5 easy miles in and out. Lunch option afterwards. Severe weather will cancel this hike.

BEV will lead an approximate 4 mile hike around Memorial Lake State Park. We will do most of the trails and a little used road to circle the lake. The trail will probably be muddy at spots, if the snow/rain continues.
