Thursday Mar 14, 2019 - Birdsboro Watershed

LES will lead an exploration of some of the more distant trails in the Birdsboro Watershed. We briefly interconnect with more familiar trails to get a winter look at the reservoir. The new French Creek Hopewell Big Woods trailhead that connects to the Schuylkill River Trail will be used to shorten the distance to these trails. Expect about 5 miles of varying terrain. Ice or snow cancels.

MEET: 9:45 A.M. @ the Schuylkill River trailhead in Monocacy. On Route 724, about a mile east of Route 345 and just past Center Rd, take the first left turn, at the former Tim's Ugly Mug, now the Fork & Ale, approximately 58 Campbell Ford Rd, Douglassville. We will shuttle to the start from here.

TELEPHONE: Leader Les 610-323-1703 with questions.

Thursday Mar 7, 2019 - Scott's Run Lake

HERB has planned a moderate 4-5 miles hike in the Scott's Run Lake area of French Creek State Park. We will take a circle hike on the Horse-shoe Trail, and other park trails and roads. We will walk through two of the organized camping areas, visit the fire tower and return back to our cars. If the maple sugar is running, we will check out the sugar camp along the way. Lunch afterwards is an option.

MEET: 10:00 A.M. @ the Scott's Run Lake parking lot off of Scott's Run Lake Road in FCSP.

TELEPHONE: Hike leader Herb at 484-252-9493c with questions.

Thursday Feb 28, 2019 - Oley Roads

LES will lead an Oley road hike of close to 5 miles. The hike takes us through land originally inhabited by the Bertolets, Knabbs, and de Bennevilles among others. There will be many stone homes and barns to view along the way. Snow or ice cancels.

MEET: 9:45 A.M. @ Boscov's East, front corner of parking lot, next to Route 422. We will shuttle to the starting point where parking is limited.

TELEPHONE: Leader Les 610-323-1703 with questions.

Thursday Feb 21, 2019 - CHANGE DUE TO WEATHER

Hibernia County Park closed due to weather. Herb has changed the hike plan and time. We will meet the group in Gibraltar across from Turkey Hill on Route 724 at 10 AM. He has a 4 to 5 mile hike plan

HERB has planned a 4-5 miles easy to moderate walk at Hibernia County Park. Depending on the weather, we will walk on the west side of the park, through the camping area and stop at the visitor center. We will visit the site of the old iron furnace and the dam on the river. Lunch afterwards is an option.

MEET: 9:00 A.M. @ the Dollar Store across from the Windmill Restaurant on Route 10 South in Morgantown.

TELEPHONE: Hike leader Herb 484-252-9493c with questions.

Thursday Feb 14, 2019 - Blue Marsh

HERB has mapped a 4-5 miles moderate hike at Blue Marsh Lake. We will start from the parking lot near the Stilling Basin, walk on the Tulpehocken Towpath, stopping at a museum and ending at the restored locks. We will then return to our parked cars. (Hint: Since it is Valentine's Day the hike leader would not refuse any Valentines!) Lunch afterwards is an option.

MEET: 10:00 A.M. @ the first parking lot on the Stilling Basin Road off of Palisade Road.
