Thursday Jan 23, 2020 - Welkinweir

HERB has planned a 4-5 mile hike at Welkinweir Preserve near Pottstown. We will visit the restored mansion, walk through the arboretum and walk on preserve trails and the Horse-shoe Trail. Some of the walk will be on a back road. The mansion is usually closed to the public but they will give us a tour. If able, please bring a small donation as a thank you for opening the mansion.

MEET 9:30 A.M. At the Clocktower Plaza parking lot off of Route 23 in Morgantown, behind the Burger King Restaurant. Deep snow or bad roads cancels this hike.

Thursday Jan 16, 2020 - Thomas P Bentley Nature Preserve

LES will lead a 5 mile hike beginning from the Thomas P Bentley Nature Preserve. This is a newly opened preserve owned by the French and Pickering Creeks Conservation Trust near Warwick Park. There will be a 4 mile road walk along scenic historic country roads. Optionally, the Preserve provides a 1 mile wooded trail, if conditions permit. Snow or ice on the roads will cancel this hike.

MEET: 10:00 A.M. @ Warwick County Park, County Park Rd, off Route 23, in Knauertown. There will be a 2 mile shuttle to the starting point.

Thursday Jan 9, 2020 - Blue Marsh

BEV will lead a shuttle hike from the Dry Brooks Day Use Area at Blue Marsh to Red Bridge Recreation Area; hiking the Blue Marsh Multi-Use, Union Canal Connector, and the Union Canal Towpath totally approx. 5 miles.

MEET: 9:30 A.M. @ Red Bridge Recreation Area, 2141 Tulpehocken Rd., Wyomissing PA 19610. From there we will group together in some cars to the beginning of the hike at Dry Brooks. Heavy snow or rain and temperatures below 32 degrees will cancel hike.

KAY will lead a 4-5 mile EASY WINTER HIKE ALONGSIDE TULPEHOCKEN CREEK. Starting the hike from Berks Leisure Area and continuing past Gring’s Mill to Red Bridge area and return.

Thursday Dec 26, 2019 - Bryn Coed Preserve

LES will lead a 5 mile hike in Bryn Coed Preserve, a new Natural Lands park in northern Chester County. It provides a variety of trails, open and wooded, hilly and flat. All will be experienced on this hike which will be based on the red blaze, but utilize other trails as well. Snow or ice on the roads will cancel this hike.

MEET: 9:30 A.M. @ the gravel parking lot in the rear of St Peters Village. There will be an approximate 10 mile shuttle to Bryn Coed.

Thursday Dec 19, 2019 - Wyomissing

KAY will lead a hike in Wyomissing. Walk will be on grassy surfaces, road surfaces, sidewalks, and Park trails. Many deer have been seen in Wyomissing, be prepared to see if you can count them all. Dress accordingly. Walk be approximately 4-5 miles. Lunch afterwards is optional and to be determined.
