Thursday Jul 21, 2016 - Pike Township

Les has a 6 mile treat for you. Want to find out why the Oley Hills got their name? This hike, primarily in Pike township, is entirely on roads. Some are unpaved. Much of it is in shade. We will see Hill Church and have the presence of Mountain Mary about us, maybe some other spirits besides. Lunch at Dryville Hotel afterwards?

1st MEET: 9:00 A.M. @ Weis Markets, Route 73 and Friedensberg Rd in Oley. There will be about a 10 mile drive to the starting point.
2nd MEET: 9:30 A.M. @ District Township Park at Landis Store and Weil Roads.

Thursday Jul 14, 2016 - French Creek

GROVER will lead a 5 to 6 mile hike in French Creek S. P. This will be mostly on various woodland trails and part of the historic area of Hopewell Furnace. It should be pleasant hiking with shade. Opt for lunch somewhere afterwards.

Thursday Jul 7, 2016 - Wyomissing

Kay will take us on a leisurely stroll thru the shaded streets and boulevards of Wyomissing. Don't worry about the heat! We will hike at an easy pace and be happy they named Wyomissing, the tree city. The trek will depend on the weather, of course, maybe 5 to 6 miles. Opt for lunch later, possibly Wyomissing Family Restaurant.

Thursday Jun 30, 2016 - Appalachian Trail

ELLEN AND HERB are organizing a “Trail-Magic” event on the AT north of Reading. It will be a picnic for all hikers on the trail that day including the Wanderers. A 4-5 miles in and out hike to a new area on the AT is also being planned. This event will be held rain or shine.

MEET: 9:00 A.M. at Redner's Market in Leesport to carpool. It is about a 40 minute drive to the trail crossing.
